Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how NeighborHoof Watch (“NeighborHoof Watch,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and application (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
- Organization & operational data. Information you enter about your rescue — horses, care and feeding notes, vet records, volunteer rosters, and shift schedules. This data belongs to your organization.
- Payment information. If your organization subscribes to a paid plan, payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Usage & technical data. Standard log data such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, used to keep the Service secure and reliable.
How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To authenticate you and secure your account.
- To send transactional messages such as email verification, password resets, and important account notices.
- To process subscription payments through our payment provider.
- To respond to support requests and communicate with you about the Service.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited cases:
- Within your organization. Data you enter is visible to other members of your organization according to their role and permissions.
- Service providers. We use trusted vendors — such as Stripe for payments and Amazon Web Services for email and hosting — who process data only on our behalf.
- Legal requirements. When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of NeighborHoof Watch, our users, or others.
Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us; some information may be retained where required for legal or accounting purposes.
Security
We use industry-standard measures — including encrypted connections and hashed passwords — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work continually to safeguard your data.
Your choices
You can review and update your account information at any time from your account settings. You may unsubscribe from non-essential emails, and you may request access to or deletion of your personal data by contacting us.
Children's privacy
The Service is intended for adults operating and volunteering with equine organizations. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the Service.
